Tequila Mexico

The city of Tequila is northwest of Guadalajara, and in the highlands (Los Altos) of the north western Mexican state of Jalisco. Tequila is known as being the birthplace of the drink that bears its name, “tequila,” which is made from the blue agave plant, native to this area. It was also named a Magical Town. The big attraction here is the drink which shares the town's name. There are a number of distilleries and tours about the Tequila making process. Apart from that, there are two churches in the centre and the central plaza, which also has a monument to a revolutionary hero. A small tianguis (street market) also operates. • Town Church, Right in the centre of the town, open everyday. • Main Plaza, Contains a band stand and monuments to mexican heroes • José Cuervo Distillery. First tequila manufacturer. Offers a range of tours.
